What does my wedding day beauty timeline look like?
Updated: Nov 18, 2020
Scheduling a wedding can be stressful. We know this firsthand, and our team wants to try and make your big day as stress-free as possible. When booking with us, some of the most common questions we get are:
“Are you able to handle all these services yourself?”
“How long should I expect each service to take?”
“So…venue access doesn’t begin till later in the day… can we get everything done in time for photos?”
“How many artists does my bridal party need?”
Most of our brides book between 6-12 months out of their special day. No worries - we know that you don’t usually know what the finalized wedding timeline will look like right away. That is something your planner and photographer will help with as the wedding day approaches, and we are willing to work with that in order to help bring your perfect wedding look to life. In order for us to be as prepared as possible, we do need to know a guesstimate timeframe to work with. However, we know things don’t always run as smoothly as we’d like them to, especially when it comes to weddings. Our rule of thumb is that the scheduled times can fluctuate up to an hour before we run into any potential problems. For instance, maybe our bride knew she had venue access at 9 am and put on her contract that we could get everyone glammed up and ready from 9-3 pm. But when the wedding day gets closer, her photographer calls her and says that she and her bridesmaids need to be beautiful and ready to go for pictures by 2. No big deal! My team has been in the wedding business long enough to know that things like this happen, and we are more than prepared to make sure things are perfect for any bride’s special day. Keeping one to two assistants on standby is an extra-precaution we take for each wedding, just in case we need a little extra help when it’s crunch time with finishing touches on the bride and her best friends!
“We always allow buffer time at the end of the beauty timeline for all hair and makeup touch ups! ”
Along with the estimated timeframe, we also need a close estimate of the number of services your group needs in order to look picture perfect. From any hairstyle you could find on Pinterest, to a customized look that will make you glow, our team is equipped to bring your ideal wedding look to life. Knowing what and how many services the bride and her party needs helps give us an idea of how many stylists and artists we need in order to keep on track with the schedule we’ve been given. All of our artists require a different length of time for services based on their personal work pace. You can’t rush beauty! Once we have a better idea of how many artists are needed, our team will get together in order to find our bride the team of artists that can help bring her perfect wedding day to life!
2-4 weeks before your wedding, we’ll meet together again and create an exact timeline for you to review. Buffer time is always something we keep in mind at the end for all hair and makeup touch-ups! The last thing we want is for any bride or her party to feel rushed on wedding day, so I try to take as many precautions as possible to ensure the day is stress-free.
Finally, another common question we get is if it’s possible to begin getting ready at one location then relocate to another to finish out the day. These situations usually arise when a venue has an absolutely stunning bridal suite but a very late access time. This is something we can totally work with, and we’d be more than happy to! For these instances, my team will usually set up at a hotel or airbnb close by to get everyone else ready, then relocate to the venue to get the bride ready and finish out the day. Just an FYI: relocations always take more time and are typically an extra charge of $45+, depending on the number of artists and distance traveled. Just be sure to ask us about if relocating while getting ready is a possibility for you and your party!
We know how important flexibility is when it comes to weddings - so we try to be as available as possible when accommodating our brides. Brides deserve to have the perfect day, and as a team, we try to do everything we can to make that perfect day a reality. If you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out to me! I have also attached two sample timeline photos just to give you an idea of what yours might look like all planned out. I would LOVE to talk more with any bride and answer any other questions they may have. I know this process can be confusing and a bit overwhelming at times, so I’m open to talk about any questions or concerns you may have. You can also connect with me on Instagram @Katyreddellbeauty!
